As group president of Siren Retail, Cliff Burrows is responsible for all of Starbucks Roastery, Reserve, Teavana and Princi operations. It is his mission to ensure that an elevated Starbucks Experience is delivered to customers and partners (employees), combining a passion for the highest quality coffee, served in a superb in-store environment complemented by the finest food. Cliff is known for his strong leadership and a commitment to Starbucks mission and guiding principles.
Prior to Cliff’s current role, he was group president of Starbucks Coffee U.S. and Americas from October 2011 to September 2016 and president of the U.S. Retail Operation from March 2008 through September 2011. Under his leadership, the U.S. business set records across almost every measure of sales and customer experience.
Cliff joined Starbucks in 2001 as managing director of the United Kingdom. In April 2006, Cliff was named president for Starbucks Coffee EMEA B.V. and led the region as it grew to more than 1,350 stores across 24 countries.
Prior to joining Starbucks, Cliff was managing director for Habitat Designs Limited, the home furnishings company, where he was responsible for the company’s UK business and European retail and franchises. During his 19-year career with Habitat, Cliff spent seven years working for Heals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Habitat. Cliff started his career with Littlewoods plc, where he was a management trainee.
Cliff, born in Wales, spent his formative years in Zambia and completed his education in the U.K. He is married, with two daughters and lives in Seattle.
